Currently in the UK rock charts:

Bohemian Rhapsody, Queen
Dude (Looks Like A Lady), Aerosmith
Sweet **** O' Mine, Guns N' Roses
I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't), Meat Loaf
Pour Some Sugar On Me, Def Leppard
Back In Black, AC/DC
Don't Stop Me Now, Queen
Wanted **** Or Alive, Bon Jovi
Livin' On A Prayer, Bon Jovi
Here I Go Again, Whitesnake
Highway To Hell, AC/DC
Paradise City, Guns N' Roses
Thunderstruck, AC/DC
You Shook Me All Night Long, AC/DC
Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, Meat Loaf
We Will Rock You, Queen
You Give Love A Bad Name, Bon Jovi
Nothing Else Matters, Metallica
Every Rose Has It's Thorn, Poison

Is this:

A) poverty of the **** generation not being able to buy music by new bands to replace the old stuff being brought by their dads in the charts?
poverty of musical taste by all generations?
C) poverty of modern bands who are proving that "they just don't write them like that anymore?".

Don't get me wrong, I have liked most of the above in their time. It just seems a bit sad that there is so much of the old stuff in the charts. Not sure I'd listen to them now, except perhaps the goat version of Living on a Prayer. That is brilliant.
Can anyone do the youtube link to the goat version?

I would say some are classics but then what defines something a classic. The weekend I was listening to david bowie sound and vision and what an intro, the intro goes well over a minute into the song, I mean, bowie is probably one the old-school artists with the **** to do such a song without a single lyric til half way through but then pulls it off with such greatness.

Music as a whole I think, is something to be enjoyed only by the listener at any given point in time. Something that sounds  fresh  today will no doubt sound new to someone who hears it, say.. in a generation from now for the first time.

Thanks RR

Not sure what I’m doing wrong on the uploading video thingy. Used to work for me.

I’m resigning myself as a old fart out of touch with tech

Suspect it is really simple, like the fact that clasic rock stations are popping up all over the place, as always radio is driving sales.

(Thankfully the good ones also play music from new artists)

Be fair.. It's a ROCK CHART... eg.. only voted on  or purchased by people over 40.

If you go on the indie chart or the radio 1 chart you will find lots of other stuff...

Bah.. humbug.

I like Bat out of Hell... and I will continue to iron to it.

Yep that's the one. Thanks.

Bon Jovi have never been better. They ought to include the goat in the band from now on.
A BIG improvement.

That would be me then ... although I haven't downloaded any of them.
Last thing I downloaded was Gary Clark Jnr, and he's quite a young'un.
