what do you listen to when the mood suits

Porcelain
by Moby

In My dreams I'm dying all the time
Then I wake its kaleidoscopic mind
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie
So this is goodbye
This is goodbye

Tell the truth you never wanted Me
Tell me...

In My dreams I'm jealous all the time
Then I wake I'm going out of My mind
Going out of My mind

Dogs - Pink Floyd

You gotta be crazy, you gotta have a real need.
You gotta sleep on your toes, and when you're on the street,
You gotta be able to pick out the easy meat with your eyes closed.
And then moving in silently, down wind and out of sight,
You gotta strike when the moment is right without thinking.

And after a while, you can work on points for style.
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

You gotta keep one eye looking over your shoulder.
You know it's going to get harder, and harder, and harder as you get older.
And in the end you'll pack up and fly down south,
Hide your head in the sand,
Just another sad old man,
All alone and dying of cancer.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown.
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone.
And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around.
So have a good drown, as you go down, all alone,
Dragged down by the stone.

I gotta admit that I'm a **** bit confused.
Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used.
Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise.
If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my way out of this maze?

Deaf, dumb, and ****, you just keep on pretending
That everyone's expendable and no-one has a real friend.
And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner
And everything's done under the sun,
And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer.

Who was born in a house full of pain.
Who was trained not to spit in the fan.
Who was told what to do by the man.
Who was broken by trained personnel.
Who was fitted with collar and chain.
Who was given a pat on the back.
Who was breaking away from the pack.
Who was only a stranger at home.
Who was ground down in the end.
Who was found **** on the phone.
Who was dragged down by the stone.

The score to "A clockwork orange" by Wendy Carlos.............. Very dark, **** and shocking in places. "I'm singing in the Rain".........etc. Not a favorite of mine but I marvel at how you can make music convey such brutality.

A fair chunk of Mike Oldfield's stuff.

Art of Noise: moments in Love (the first dubstep track 30 years before anybody else). Enigma: principles of lust. Some of Royksopp stuff. Jean Michel Jarre of course........

The majority of this is avante garde synthesizer music: I guess you don't necessarily need words to go dark..........

I'll check it out.
(I did check it out, not really my thing. I didn't much care for "Fumbling towards ecstacy" either. I just like the Toy Story 2 tune. )

Anything by Pink Floyd or Fish (and early Marillion)

(Often drift away, but always come back to these, due to either incredably well crafted lyrics or sounds that simply rip though me.  A lot of their material often leaves me with wet cheaks - oops)

The whole of floyds  dark side.

A bottle, a mixer, a glass, earphones on, cushions on the floor and the music turned up full.

No one can see or hear the tears.

Say Something - James. One of my faves for a sad tune (goes to stick it on...). Live version is good too.
Helped me through a bit of an unhappy time back in the 90s.

This is How It Feels - Inspiral Carpets.

Most things by Morrissey and / or the Smiths.

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad - Moby

Johnny Cash can be therapeutic when feeling down too

for dark moods
TMF every time
LOOK AT YOU, SO GLAD THAT I'M ME
'CAUSE YOU'RE A DRONE WHILE I RUN FREE
YOU LIVE IN IGNORANCE, A LIFE SO BLISS
WELL HERE'S THE **** THAT YOU CAN KISS
THE SYSTEM TAKES AND THEN TAKES MORE
YOU'RE SO UN-HAPPY AND GOING POOR
CAN'T ROCK THE BOAT, TOO SCARED TO REBEL
AND SOCIETY CAN GO TO **** HELL.

CHORUS:
ONE FINGURED SALUTE
ONE FINGURED SALUTE
ONE FINGURED SALUTE
SALUTE TO SOCIETY

ONE FINGURED SALUTE
ONE FINGURED SALUTE
ONE FINGURED SALUTE

**** YOUR SOCIETY.

IS MONEY AND WEALTH ALL THAT DRIVES YOUR LIFE?
A SLAVE TO THE GRAVE WITH **** AND A WIFE
YOU HAVE A NICE HOUSE, NEW KITCHEN AND CAR
BUT THIS SIMPLE LIFE WON'T GET YOU FAR
YOUR T.V SCREEN NOW HAS A GRIP
PROPOGANDA, LIES AND BULLSHIT
MILLIONS MORE THEY ARE JUST LIKE YOU
CARRY ON LIFE WITHOUT A **** CLUE.

YOUR NEIGHBOUR'S BEEN ****, ANOTHER'S BEEN ROBBED
BUT YOU DON'T CARE, 'CAUSE IT AINT YOUR JOB
IT AINT ON YOUR DOORSTEP, SO YOU JUST SHRUG
OPEN YOUR EYES, YOU **** MUG
THE GOVERNMENT HAS PRODUCED THIS ****
AN **** ON A BALLOT PAPER, WILL NEVER CHANGE IT
LOOK AT THE SYSTEM YOU KNOW IT HAS FAILED
GIVE IT THE FINGER, IF YOU WANNA PREVAIL.
