Recently former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan said there should be a black James Bond . . .And he backed his mate Colin Salmon . . . .

http://news.sky.com/story/1077577/black … lin-salmon

Now Pierce Brosnan is my James Bond . .By that i mean the first Bond film i remember seeing was Goldeneye . .Which was also Brosnans first Bond . . .

I have now seen all other James Bonds apart from the latest . . .

Colin Salmon is a good actor who i remember from his Bond role as Charles Robinson and more recently in the brilliant series Arrow .. . .

But he can never be James Bond . . For a start hes 50 . . .1year **** then Brosnan when he was deemed to old for Bond and replaced with Daniel Craig . .  .

The 2nd and crucial reason is . .  .Bond can never be black . . .James Bond the character was based by Ian Fleming on  real people .. . He wasnt black . . .Thats just the way it is

Nothing racial here im not racist at all but on this occasion i think that racial equality has to go out of the window . . .Bond is, has and should always be played by a white actor . . .IN keeping with the description of the man who created him

And what nationality is Bond?  Because so far he has been played by Englishmen, an Irish man, a Welsh man and a Scots man.  There may have been other nationalities who have played him too but i'm not sure.

English appparently . . .Yep they were different nationalities . . .But they all looked vaguely similar . . .Progress from one to the next was easier . . The only one who doesnt fit the book is Daniel Craig. . .

Sean was good i like Sean Connery as an actor to

Because this is James Bond not Doctor Who. . . .Doctor Who can look like anybody because he can regenerate . .So nobody cares when a different actor plays him . .Because they can explain it away  . . .

If James Bond becomes black that goes against all the others . .The fuss thathaving a blonde Bond caused would be nothing compared to the fuss if he was black. . Like i said not a racial thing just common sense . . To preserve Bond all the actors must look similar

Oh god we are like two peas in a pod. I love arrow.

I also agree bond should not be black.  Plus it wouldnt be good for the actor wondering if he only got the job to keep the pc brigade happy.

Sorry but I can't agree or half the actors in films wouldn't have got the jobs they've had.  Lincoln Rhyme in the Jeffery Deaver series of novels was of Irish descent with red hair based on an actual person.  Denzel Washington who played him in The Bone Collector - of African American descent and black as two in the morning.  William Wallace - another actual person - was 6ft 6 and who played him in Braveheart?  That well known Australian short **** Mel Gibson.  That's just two examples. The age thing isn't too relevant either.  Roger Moore was 58 when he last played James Bond and Sean Connery was 53, both supposed to be playing an agent in his late thirties.  For me, Daniel Craig has been the nearest to the general impression I get of James Bond but he's really whoever you want him to be.  I don't see any reason why we can't have a black Bond but the actor should be picked because they're the best person to carry on the franchise, not for their colour or to be politically correct.  Would it really spoil your enjoyment of the movie if it was a black actor playing him?

It's such a radical change it would take a bit to adjust - but not a whole film. For me James Bond is about the character of the man. If a black man can capture that I'd be fine with it. The format of the films is that 007 is always an agent in the present day. Pitbull says it's not like the Doctor because he regenerates as a new body. But given Bond would be in a Zimmer frame or **** by now, is it a stretch of the imagination to speculate that although never stated the entire Bond identity is a fake one inherited by holders of the 007 post?

Besides, the films haven't been accurate to the books' character from the start as I understand it. So it should matter less.

Different for a period piece where colour would have been a barrier. That might make it unbelievable. Like a black Miss Marple!

Im not making an argument against actors in other movies . .The casting directors had there reasons for picking whoever they picked . .My problem is with a black Bond . . .And both of the actors you mentioned both have said they played Bond for to long. .  .Moore said himself in an interview not that long ago .That he realised he was to old when i=he met the **** of a bond girl  . .Roger Moore was older then her . . .Also the actual height of William Wallace isnt known . .He was described as "a giant of a man" but no record of his actual height exists. . .But anyhoo i digress .  .James Bond is described as looking facially like Hoagy Carmichael who was an actor apparently. . . He was white with short black hair . . .Bond is about 6ft and 167pounds according to Casino Royale book. . . So if you combined all the actors to play Bond there probably about right . . .

In all honesty yes it would. . .I had a huge problem accepting a blonde bond as did many other people . .Pierce Brosnan physically from the description by Ian Fleming was pretty close . . .Daniel Craig is further away from the truth and a black Bond would be further still . . .The bottom line is there would be many James Bond fans who would object rightly or wrongly to a black James Bond. . .And as Bond is a business first worth millions if not billions of pounds . . For this reason i doubt there will be a black james bond. .  .

For me Bond, James Bond ... has to be a white gent - as is described in the books?! - i hate it when films devaiate from what is written - personally if it says a white guy in the bond book or indeed the books of any series describe characters then that is what the actor needs to look similar too.  when reading a book and a person is described you immeadiately form an image of what that person looks like in your mind and carry it with you throughout the series of books - to then see a film that has changed the characters said description in my eyes is not right.

said my piece hehe

I do get people's point about keeping to the physical description. It just wouldn't matter so much to me But it could be compared to a white (and played white) Othello
