Purged

I have always considered certain people on BN my friends. I learned otherwise today. Not one had anything to say to me but felt it okay to say (something that wasnt positive) privately. You have been purged. I am okay with differing ideas but I value openess and honesty. If you have failed in that then there is no reason to pretend to be friends. I have to admit I am shocked and appalled at the way a certain man (not his real name but let's call him dave) felt it was okay to be less than...

Real life vs online life

I have heard it said that the connections we make online are just fantasy if there is no chance of a face to face meeting. Some people imply that you cant have real feelings for someone if you dont see them in person. And they believe this is true for friendships as much as romances. After the news we got today I doubt there is a forumite out there that believes the connections are any less for not meeting in person. I am deeply saddened. Due to the very nature of our friendship there is...

Surgery update!!

Well I have been walking now for about 3 weeks. Its harder than I remember. I never expected it to be this difficult. Therapy has been helpful but also painful and time consuming. I had to return to work last week. Some days I feel like I am 90 years old. I miss simple things like being able to tie my own shoes, and getting out of a chair without help.  I wanted to thank all who have been there and so supportive during the last few months as I have gone through...

Reflections

Yesterday was the 10th anniversary of Sept 11. And it brought to mind the sacrifices many have made to keep this country free (although sadly some were not made by concious choice). I am amazed at how well the US as a country has managed to maintain the sense of cohesiveness that bound us all together in the wake of that tragedy. 10 years is a long time. And yet...each and every day I remain proud to be an American.

My thoughts to all those who have experienced loss through the war...

To everything there is a season

Life is seasonal or cyclic you might say. I came in here in the winter of my life. Alone, celibate, and less than thrilled about it. I have enjoyed the spring that a new love and new romance brings. I am fortunate enough to have a wonderful man come 5000 miles to spend the rest of his life with me. As my life continues to be fuller, happier, busier I find have less and less interest in being here.

A lot of it has to do with some of the current personalities on the forum. I am sick...

Hmmmphhh!!!

I am now nearly 7 weeks post-op and finally got to see the dr again. I have been going to physical therapy 3x a week and they say I am doing great and doing well above what is normal for this point in my recovery. So why oh why did my dr insist that I go another 4 weeks without walking? I was soooo looking forward to **** things like not looking for the zimmer frame or wheelchair every single time I need a drink of water or to shower. Apparantly the screws in my leg have not adequately...

Does it ever get better?

I have been down and off work for over 3 weeks since the knee operation. My **** had a total knee replacement done on Monday and is still in the hospital. I am finding it hard to balance my need for rest to recover with my need to be there for my ****(I am an only **** so I am pretty much all she has).  The back and forth is wearing me out and I just dont know what to do about it all.  On top of that I am trying to teach J to drive so he can help out a bit but it's sometimes a...

Post Operative Update

Okay, I am 7 days post-op now. As far as I can tell most things went okay. The nerve block they did on top of the general anesthesia was awesome until it wore off after I got home. Then pain worse than I could possibly imagine. I am still non weight bearing which means I use a **** old lady walker to move about the house. So obviously I dont go far. For the past 2 days I have made it out of the bedroom to the den to watch some tv. It's a major logistical operation generally involving me,...

Feeling really nervous!!!

As some of you may remember, I had mentioned going under the knife. Well the time is upon me and I am feeling more nervous and apprehensive after my pre-op appointments yesterday.

Initially, I had expected this to be painful and similar to the last knee surgery I had almost 20 years ago. Apparantly not this time. Although the surgery will mostly be done arthroscopically (there is one area where the have to open up) they will be cutting the tibia and putting in screws. I was told I...

The Eyes at the End of the Bed!!!

I have to ask if anyone else has a problem with this. I find it to be both creepy weird and funny all at the same time.

As a **** owner I want to know why they want to watch.

I am pretty lucky now because both of my cats are neutered males and not such a problem. Although both think the master bed is the place to be no matter what is going on there.

When I was much much ****...
